Some two decades ago, The U.N. Convention on Rights for Children (CRC) proposed a treaty called the Rights of the Child. As many other such treaties, bills, resolutions, etc., that have come out, nobody read it and many nations ratified it. But little Somalia, and the U.S. never did. Yes, Bill Clinton signed it but congress refused to ratify it, thank God. Some people would sign their names on a suicide note if you told them it was a great bill.
First of all, the United Nations has no business whatsoever in sticking their noses into other nations moral and ethical affairs. This is simply a segment of the push for a "New World Order" or "New World Governance". The very idea of having a group whose majority is opposed to the United States, to ultimately rule us, is ridiculous, outrageous and insane. And to advocate any step in that direction is out and out treason. Even if we wanted such a bill, it should be ours not the world's.
But as then, practically no one yet knows what the treaty says, nor the possible implications to which it could lead. Here is an opening paragraph to one article By Chelsea Schilling entitled "United Nations' threat: "No More Parental Rights".
"A United Nations human rights treaty that could prohibit children from being spanked or homeschooled, ban youngsters from facing the death penalty and forbid parents from deciding their families' religion is on America's doorstep, a #legal expert warns."
Second, the United Nations is an impotent, extremely expensive organization which is a hindrance to world peace and prosperity. We should have withdrawn from them years ago and booted them out of this country. We have certain inalienable rights here in the U.S. and yet these creatures, not yet evolved, try to say there are no such things. Then we have some of our own who come crawling out of the woodwork and contend they are right!
193 nations have accepted the treaty, sort of. Many have accepted it conditionally, with their reservations. Some are lengthy, some or not so lengthy.
But if you are going to have to rip a treaty all to pieces and say, we'll accept this portion but we reserve the right to do this or that, why have it? Read Canada's relatively brief reservations:
Canada
Reservations:
"(i) Article 21
With a view to ensuring full respect for the purposes and intent of article 20 (3) and article 30 of the Convention, the Government of Canada reserves the right not to apply the provisions of article 21 to the extent that they may be inconsistent with customary forms of care among aboriginal peoples in Canada.
"(ii) Article 37 (c)
The Government of Canada accepts the general principles of article 37 (c) of the Convention, but reserves the right not to detain children separately from adults where this is not appropriate or feasible.
Statement of understanding:
"Article 30:
It is the understanding of the Government of Canada that, in matters relating to aboriginal peoples of Canada, the fulfilment of its responsibilities under article 4 of the Convention must take into account the provisions of article 30. In particular, in assessing what measures are appropriate to implement the rights recognized in the Convention for aboriginal children, due regard must be paid to not denying their right, in community with other members of their group, to enjoy their own culture, to profess and practice their own religion and to use their own language."
What all this amounts to, is that those who wish to see a global governance will have muscled their way a little closer to their goal. And the nations which have signed on to it, at this point, can ignore whatever facets they wish which renders it impotent as the rest of the U.N. mandates are. That is unless it has a whole bunch of activist judges who are a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, or sympathizers thereof, who wish to see a new world governance. And unfortunately, we have them.
Every American, whether Democrat or Republican, needs to contact their congressmen and senators and advise them to somehow, corral Barbara and put her back in her cage. And also urge them to do whatever necessary, filibuster or what, to deny ratification of this VERY unconstitutional treaty. Do it today before you forget. You may view the official listing of nations who have ratified this abomination and their "reservations" against it, HERE.

Joel, I totally agree with you on this...I would never vote, or even entertain global Governing, and I want to have the right to spank my children if need be, and run my family the way we see fit. This is frightening, and hopefully, these so called promoters of global governing are the minority....there is no place for this in this country, that is why we have our own constitution....so let it be written, so let it be done. Great article, your fan and friend in pen.....Gary. Very thought provoking. I will go to the link you provided, and read up on this, now you got me curious!!» left by Joel Hendon(170)(3 years 75 days ago.)
Thanks Gary, for your encouraging comments. Sometimes I wonder where the U.S. will be in 5 more years, 10 more years. Unless our radical thinkers stop multiplying, we'll be in trouble big time. Can you imagine all the Asian countries, which are in the majority, rulling on the things we cherish here in the U.S.?

hi joel,i have to wonder if all this negativity is good for you to read everyday.this article is very interesting, and of course, well written.joel, i have to say that when i was a kid, if i did something wrong, there was a switch or a belt or a hand, and possibly a foot following me. i didn't take that route with my kids, and there are quite a few things i have noticed that they did that i would never have done, knowing what my mother or father would do to me. and guess what? i'd live to be able to make English the next day!i think the line between child abuse and the strong ruling of your children, so they turn out right, needs to be defined. and i don't think this is the job for the United Nations, thank you for sharing,my best regards, sue» left by Joel Hendon (3 years 75 days ago.)
Thanks for commenting Susan. I agree, and it is exactly my point. I paddled my 3 girls only if they needed it and they grew up, not as perfect as I'd like but they never got into drugs, never got into any trouble and they love me today for how I treated them. I would never consider abusing a child. But they definitely need to be taught, with loving punishment if necessary. And I don't want a bunch of foreigners telling me how I should do it.

Thought provoking article. Brought to mind the documentary on North Korea and all those beautiful children that looked just like puppets. Yes Barbara Boxer is pretty scary. Thanks for sharing, Linda D
