Let me be clear to start with, the information I am about to disclose comes from a foreign nation's official newspaper which is often filled with erroneous and/or embellished information. What information they have put forth here sounds favorable to me, possibly because I am strongly opposed to the existence of the United Nations. Nevertheless, I still hold reservations as to it's accuracy.
I have, for a long time, advocated that the U.S. pull out of the United Nations and boot them out of our country, then form an alliance with free nations who also desire that all remain free. I do not know if those thoughts are similar or in line with what is about to be proposed or not. But apparently we will soon see. Here is a paragraph taken from the newspaper mentioned above (which I prefer not to identify here).
Ivo Daalder, one of the most renowned US experts on the alliance, was appointed the new US Ambassador to NATO Thursday. Daalder is an old-time champion of the revolutionary idea to create a league of democracies. The concept was originally suggested by Senator John McCain. The theory stipulates the creation of a new international organization that will virtually replace the United Nations.
It is expected, according to this source, that during the forthcoming summit of the NATO organization, Daalder will propose that the alliance be expanded to include Australia, Japan and South Korea, plus some other democracies. If handled properly, this would be a vast improvement over the current United Nations organizations. It is more than obvious that the UN will never be a worth while undertaking. There are more nations in that organization who hate the U.S. than those who consider us allies. There is veto power in the Security Council both for and against our well being. This causes complete impotence in matters of strong security. In matters of emergency we, or our enemies, will have to take unilateral action. It costs billions of dollars to sustain the organization when it isn't worth fifty cents.
My only fear in the possible proposal of an expanded NATO is that it will only enhance he opportunity for some form of world governance and/or global taxation, etc. The United States should never become involved in any alliance which will burden it's people with additional taxation or intrude upon our constitutional freedoms.
Men seemingly will never learn. It is fine to have an alliance, an agreement to help one another in case of need, but to try and become ruled together is purely outrageous. The League of Nations, formed in 1920 after World War one, was a noble undertaking but it, as the United Nations, proved itself to be worthless and impotent when the chips were down. Where people try to rule in accord while holding entirely different philosophical views, nothing but discord and failure will prevail. It is very likely, should the expanded NATO alliance become a reality and the United Nations fold, there will come more confusion and disagreement in the NATO alliance. No one will want to sacrifice their way of life for that of another. If Global Governance is what this is all about, I totally disagree with that. Here is a link to an article by Ivo Daalder, our newly appointed ambassador to NATO.

Joel, I am in total agreement with you, especially when you say, and I quote "Men seemingly will never learn. It is fine to have an alliance, an agreement to help one another in case of need, but to try and become ruled together is purely outrageous". This in my opinion would be outrageous.....There could never be one government for the world....I have seen this in some science fiction movies, where people go to another world where it is run by one government, and even though ficticious, there is always something that goes wrong, It would never work. To many different cultures, and I for one want to stick with our constitution, and the way that our country is founded...Thanks so much for the interesting and thought provoking read....Your fan, and friend in pen.......Gary ........Great article» left by Joel Hendon(180)(2 years 330 days ago.)

It should be made clear that NATO is a mainly millitary orginisation and the UN is not. Hence I would rather see an expanded UN than an expanded NATO.» left by Joel Hendon(180)(2 years 329 days ago.)
Hi Conner, thanks for reading and commenting. I have to differ with you a little though. NATO is not nearly all military and with out the worthless UN, could be turned into a good thing I believe. They are trying to choose only democracies in the alliance, but if Russia is supposed to be one, it is not a good one. It is still pretty much a monarchy.

Joel since I have evidently fast become a religious fanatic on searchwarp I will step up to say that Nato will play a significant role in the years to come. Now France seems to be leading the charge recently getting back into Nato, a French no, no, that seems to no longer be a problem. Now we have been pushing for more involvement by Nato in Afganistan and any new war that might pop up. It seems we are right now discussing our militray strategy of being able to fight two wars at once. The reaity we can't. It seesm we are the only ones who don't know this. We have loered our standards for the militray, we are recruiting non citizens and there fore we need to turn to foreign help. Sound familiar - Rome. I wote to this topic years ago and I see soon a call for "service" in the form of a draft. As for the UN this will be liminated with the roll over into the New World Order, fact. Everything in place except the final pieces and his will be coming soon. Look toward Israel as the key. Once resolved with Peace then Security can come. I would be worried about Russia flexing once again in Cuba and with South America.
