A Man Who Died for His Cause

by John Waddey(43)
firstcenturychristian

Jerry Jersey was a real libertarian. He demanded his freedom and his privacy. No government was going to intrude on his life. He joined the ACLU and wrote letters to his representatives and senators. He sent letters to his newspaper and called the radio talk shows to state his case. On principle, he refused to support the war against the Islamic terrorists. He opposed the government’s domestic counter terrorism efforts as a violation of civil liberties and an invasion of privacy of Muslims living in America. He opposed efforts to seal our nation’s borders. Fences and guards were too much like a prison for Jerry. He was furious when he learned that our CIA was detaining terrorists captured on the battle fields of Iraq and Afghanistan. He could imagine them coming after him some day. He argued it was cruel for our military to use pressure tactics to extract vital information from captured enemy operatives. He did not hesitate to label all such questioning as torture and demanded that the terrorists be provided free lawyers and tried in our civil courts. He thought it was heroic for antiwar politicians and media spokesmen to reveal our military secrets, plans and tactics. He was sure all the talk about Islamo-facism and terror attacks was merely propaganda made up by war-mongers to frighten the public.

With memories of the anti-war victories that defeated us in Viet Nam as his inspiration, Jerry and his friends worked day and night for their cause. So sure was Jerry, that for his vacation he included visits to several nations where radical Islam prevails. When Jerry did not show up for his return flight his friends were alarmed. Someone claimed to have seen an America snatched from a tourist site and forced into a vehicle. Another unnamed source claimed that he heard screams in the night from a nearby house. A farmer reported that he saw a battered, headless body in the river. The local authorities issued a statement saying Mr. Jersey had obviously committed suicide to protest America’s military oppression of Iraq.

At his memorial service, Jerry’s anti-war friends reminded those present that Jerry was a man of high principles. He opposed every effort by the government to implement a domestic security program. He helped to keep our borders open. He opposed the war against those peaceful Islamic terrorists. He died proving that the whole idea of Islamo-facism was propaganda from war mongers. The service was suddenly disrupted when a car-bomb exploded ripping the front from the funeral home, killing numerous mourners and wounding still others. Jerry will be long remembered!
