U.N. General Assembly President Ridicules U.S.

Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann, a Roman Catholic priest from Nicaragua with strong leanings to the left has blasted the U.S. For "demonizing" the Iranian President Ahmadinejad. Well, shouldn't they? He is another crackpot in a powerful position who is a disgrace to the Muslim world. Here is Brockmann's statement:

"I don't think anyone can doubt that in our part of the world ... (President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad has been demonized," he said. "The United States has been in the business of the demonization of people forever and the canonization of the worst of dictators."  (Associated Press Tuesday March 17, 2009)

Brockmann also puts the bad mouth on Israel with the statement that the more he thinks about the conditions that Israel imposes on the Palestinians, the more he tends to think about apartheid.

When a high official of an organization which is supposed to be helping keep peace and cooperation between nations, makes such disparaging remarks about any of those nations, he should be thrown out. And then throw the entire organization out. With the amount of funds the United Nations drain from the United States and then to have an individual who is being highly paid from those funds make such statements is proof positive of the benefits we can expect to gain from such an investment.

Listen to more he had to say about Israel with hypocrisy dripping from his mouth.

"I don't hate Israel, much less do I hate the Jewish people," d'Escoto added. "In fact they are very high on my list of people that I love."  But he said that won't keep him from criticizing Israeli actions, especially in the recent war in Gaza where some 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis were killed.

Never mind that Israel had been peppered almost daily with rockets from that area and had shown restraint for a long time while trying to negotiate an end to those unwarranted attacks. Here is another paragraph from the AP article

D'Escoto served as foreign minister in the 1980s during the rule of the , who aligned themselves with Fidel Castro and the Soviet Union. Since assuming the one-year General Assembly presidency in September, he has been a stern critic of the United States, and of Israel.

Although the effort being put forth to expand the NATO alliance could be a Trojan horse, it seems very much preferable to that of the present United Nations Organization.
