It is not a profound statement to say we are in a royal mess. Why are we? Most will say greed and dishonesty, power hungry crooks, etc., without knowing what they are meaning. They are hitting the nail on the head, but how is all these involved in our mess? Read on.
We elect presidents, congressmen, some judges, and so on, to lead this nation honestly and justly with ethics and morality and most of all, intelligence. But we don't get it. Instead we get power hungry crooks, greedy and dishonest crooks who have, instead of intelligent honesty, morality and integrity, they are intellectual schemers. They know how to take your earnings and give you a carrot in it's place. And the American people base their voting on good looks, good words and evanescent dreams. Let's see what we can learn from our people in high offices.
The American International Group (AIG) whom most had not heard of 6 months ago but is now a household word (cuss word). They are taking the brunt of criticism and they deserve everything they get. BUT honey, they are not alone. What they have done and are doing, is being duplicated all over this nation. They just haven't been found out yet.
AIG's now infamous retention bonuses are only the tip of the iceberg. They totaled $165 million last week and now they are up to over $200 million and they have caused an uproar by the American public as well as the administration and congress. But who is yelling only to
appear outraged? And why are they doing that? Look at some facts and we'll learn just what should be done about all these carryings on.
Large institutions and organizations keep their power and business growing and flourishing, not by great service and/or products but by buying politicians. The more money they contribute, the more under the table lobbying monies and gifts, the better the business will fare when it comes to legislation. Politicians try to keep the geese who lay golden eggs well and happy, even if it means brash favoritism, throwing the taxpayer under the bus, or whatever becomes necessary in order to keep those eggs coming.
Over the last 20 years, AIG has contributed over $9.3 million dollars to the executive and the legislative branches of our government's candidates campaign funds, both Democrat and Republican. Now they want it back tenfold. Not from the candidates, but from you and me, and our kids. Of course they want the candidates to understand they will keep laying those golden eggs in their campaign baskets.
But as I said, this is only a drop in the bucket. The OpenSecrets.org keeps a tally of what they refer to as the "heavy hitters" of payouts to candidates and AIG is number 79 in their top 100 bracket. Take a look at their list and you will find the top donations staggering. AT & T leads the list with their liberality of almost $41 millions.

Now you must remember, these massive organizations, many of them unions, are not just patriotic. They are not just kind hearted. They are greedy, power grabbing people who are seeking favoritism from those they succor. And don't think they do not receive it.
But it becomes a vicious cycle. The politicians who grant them favors in forms of favorable legislation, want to maintain influence in their organizations. A "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" arrangement. Both feeling they can brain wash the public into thinking every move they make is in favor of the taxpayer. And we swallow it. We prove them to be right.
This type of buying the government by large business, doesn't end in campaign donations but is enhanced by lobbyists. Lobbyists are well paid employees of many large business whose only job is to try and influence elected officials to pass certain legislation which favors their organization. They hang around the executive and legislative branches, hindering the public servants whom we have elected, taking them out for an expensive meal and even finding them a lady of the night in some cases if desired. Under the counter gifts and monies. It happens.
Only we, with God's help, can stop this forest fire. The people who vote and have voted for these people. They need to be talked straight to. They should be warned that unless they conduct business as we have elected them for, then someone else will, after the next election. We also need to educate our friends and neighbors in this endeavor. Donations from companies which can be and are influenced by our officials, should be barred from contributing. Lobbying of our officials should become a criminal offense.
We have now voted in an administration who are so encumbered with obligations to large businesses and wealthy men, such as George Soros, that they will have no room to pass legislation in favor of the taxpayer. And we are at fault. This will become so evident within the next few weeks. George Soros is pushing for a global currency and has successfully convinced Russia and perhaps others to support that issue in the imminent summit of the G20 group meeting in London April 2.
The only thing that can save this country from disaster at this point is the providential care of God, and we need to pray daily for His intervention.
