There are bushels of really nice free stuff available on the internet, no kidding. I have, more so in the past than recently, searched for hours looking at the free offers of things. But the main thing anyone has to do is give some thought as to WHY the offers are made.
There are a few, but very few, items which are offered free to which there are no strings attached. You will find a good number of churches which will actually give you tracts, pamphlets, or even sometimes books promoting their particular beliefs. You will find some major businesses who will send you their products as samples, and so on. But some individual or small online business which offers you something for nothing, beware.
I ordered free CD's with programs I wanted one time, free. Good ones. But they charged me something like $2.50 each for shipping, which I was willing to pay. But the package of 5 CD's which I ordered, came by USPS for less postage than the price of one. I am not criticizing that, because it was well worth it. I don't know how they came by those CD's. I don't remember what website that was.
There are many sites which give every impression of being legitimate and safe. I will not, in any way, recommend any such sites, because I have not recently ordered anything. I will, however, list a few which I have visited (and didn't get a virus from) which look very good if they have anything you wish. But proceed with caution at all times. Some sites look good but a visit with them can enable them to implant spy ware onto your hard drive if you don't have protective software. If a site has pop up ads jumping at you every where you move, leave the site.
One site which has small items but hundreds of them, food samples, other household samples, magazines, even numerous sweepstakes offering clothing and so on. Is ThePrizeBlog at
http://www.theprizeblog.com/clothing-and-jewelry.htmAnother with a wide variety of offerings is the Shop4Freebies website:
http://www.shop4freebies.com/Perhaps the largest site with the most stuff offered is the
http://www.totallyfreestuff.com/ Totally Free Stuff website, at least they claim to be. After visiting their site I am reasonably sure they are legitimate, however some of their offerings, which are not their own, are gimmicks, so beware. Read everything and make sure you know what you are doing. For instance one offers a Dell Laptop to test and keep. It stated "participation required" and I did not pursue it to see what the gimmick was but you can almost be assured there was one. This was possibly a paid ad or a link that "TotallyFreeStuff" is paid by the click through or something similar.Don't give any such site your personal information unless you are convinced they are honest and legitimate.
You can pull up more links to such free items than you can find time to visit, simply by putting some words indicating such into Google's search window. "Free Stuff", "Free online gifts" "freebies" or just about anything with the word free in it. But tread lightly and be sure you have a reputable anti-virus program installed in your computer, preferably one that detects spy ware or ad ware. Then do not give anyone you are not sure about, your personal information, especially your SS#, drivers license #, credit card # or bank account #.
It is a sorry shame that some people on the internet cause all to have to suffer from them. Such as we are speaking of. Many are in this game for enjoyment and to help others, some trying to make a few bucks from advertisements on their sites, and so on. But there are a few who are attempting to take you for a free ride for everything you have, even your identity. Enjoy.

You've heard the saying, "you get what you pay for." Nicely done, very informative. You really did your homework here, Joel.» left by Joel Hendon(178)(2 years 324 days ago.)
Thanks for reading and commenting Ken. Yes, I have learned long ago, that 99.9% of people giving you something have an ulterior motive. I wish it wasn't so.

Thanks, Joel, for posting this helpful info. You'll save some of us much trouble, and probably some money too. ~mogama~» left by Joel Hendon (2 years 323 days ago.)
Thanks Mogama, for your comment. I hope it helps some. Early on, when I first started roaming the internet, i became infected with a worm and scared me to death, then later i inherited some ad ware which made pop ups flare up each time I turned my computer on, and I also got my email address sold to a bunch of people and wass receiving dozens of spam mails, including gambling sits, porn in the actual email...some from Korea! So the mess is out there if people aren't cautious.
