Mr. Obama's Grand Tour

by John Waddey(40)

On his trip abroad, Mr. Obama, revealed his true thoughts about America. He described us as having been " arrogant. " This a subject about which he knows a great deal since he himself has been described as arrogant. He was speaking to leaders whose nations are free today because America poured out her blood and treasure to save them in two World Wars and then for 40 years, protected them from Communist Russia. We provided the funds to rebuild their war- shattered nations. Rather than America apologizing to them, they should apologize for their shameless lack of gratitude and appreciation for what we have done for them.

The President then went to Turkey, a Muslim nation, and proclaimed that America is not a Christian nation. It is true that Mr. Obama and his staff are governing with no regard for Christian standards. It is true that he wishes for us to be a secular society and nation like those of Europe. But he is ignoring the incontestable fact that the men who founded our nation did so on the basis that Christianity provided the moral foundation on which our Constitution, our social compact and our society rested. He ignores the fact that the overwhelming majority of America’s non-political citizens consider themselves Christians. He could have truly said, America has no official state religion such as most Muslim nations have. He could have said that we guarantee freedom of religion to all who peacefully practice their faith. But he prefers to deny our heritage to impress Muslims. This reminds us of his previous refusal to wear a U. S. flag lapel pin, to place his hand over his heart when the national anthem was played and his wife’s statement that she had never been proud of America until her husband won the Democrat primary.

To the Turks, he declared that America is not at war with Islam. What a revelation! We have never been at war with Islam, but we are at war with Muslim radicals who have repeatedly attacked us and inflicted on us great harm and loss of life. He failed to mention that. Like his European mentors, I fear he has no heart to make war on those Islamic jihadists who are surely at war with us.

The Commander in Chief of our military announced to the world, including aggressor nations and our enemies, that he wants to rid our nation of our nuclear weapons. He seems oblivious to the fact that these weapons kept us safe from Soviet aggression for some forty years. He is evidently unconcerned that Russia, China, North Korea and Pakistan have these potent weapons and other nations such as Iran are striving to build them. Should he and his band of long-earred advisors disarm us, does he really think that the others will do the same? The once-strongest nation in the world would be left at the mercy of petty tyrants who were shrewd enough to hide and keep their nuclear weapons. Add to this folly his announcement that he is making major cutbacks in our military armaments while we are in the midst of a war.

He then went to visit our troops in Iraq. That move required a high level of chutzpah. He chose not to serve in the military. As a senator, he opposed every effort to help our troops win the conflict in Iraq. He predicted failure and wanted to pull our troops out in defeat. But his media team presented him like President Eisenhower. He was not the least bit embarrassed. He only apologizes for America.

Before his trip it was announced that our president was calling for resumes for Muslims to work in his administration. We have always had a problem, in time of war, with spies worming their way into our government. This is the first time, a president has posted a help-wanted sign on the White House bulletin board. How safe do you feel.
