Somali Pirates Smack America's Face

The Somali pirates have finally smacked America’s face. Since the early 1990s they have been preying on ships in the Gulf of Aden. A hapless United Nations has issued a resolution and several nations have sent ships to the region, but the pirates continue to operate without fear of retaliation. Our ever-dependable news sources have been careful not to mention that the pirates are Muslims, lest they offend the followers of Mohamet.
Back in 1786 ambassadors Thomas Jefferson and John Adams negotiated with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, ambassador from Tripoli, regarding the North African Barbary pirates. They reported to the Continental Congress that ambassador Rahman Adja had told them "it was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave," but he also told them that for what they considered outrageous sums of money they could make peace. (Wickipedia). From 1801 to 1815 our navy and marines made war on the Barbary pirates eventually driving them from the seas.
Today our courageous President and Secretary of State wring their hands and plead with the UN to do something. Our navy stands by, shackled, unable to take decisive action because the powers that be in Washington prefer to talk with terrorists than to defeat them. The same approach that has failed with the jihadists on land is being used with these Islamic pirates. Only one language do these barbarians know. It is the language of devastating force. When soft, cowardly nations retreat, beg and pay ransom, the pirates are embolden to continue and expand their brigandry. We must however give credit where credit is due, the Obama administration has mounted a vigorous war against piracy (copying and selling) of CDs and movies.
Most Americans know that our Navy and Marines could bring the Somali pirates under control in a month. It is a shame that our rulers are afraid to unleash them.
