Who Would Want To Be Atheist?

Did you ever stop and wonder what it would be like to be an atheist, infidel, or what ever you may prefer to call them? It somehow seems to me to be a life as depicted by the comic strip character "Born Loser". It is a lose, lose situation. It is as a quote I read about Alexander Campbell once when he was having a discussion with an atheist. He said, "Sir, you are like that ox over there, you have no hope."

Take this life for instance. It makes no difference what race or nationality they are, they remain a minority. I'm told there is 20% of the populace that are atheist. But I don't believe that. There may be that many who profess to be, so as to justify their failure to submit to God. Besides being a minority, many people dislike them. Almost everyone wants to be liked, or loved. It's natural.

Can you imagine placing your philosophy before people only to be looked upon as an idiot? To never actually win an argument because (1) you have no evidence to back up anything you say, and (2) you have absolutely nothing to offer a person that would entice them to listen? And (3) you realize that your cohorts include the Nazi "Skinheads", "Reverend" Matt Hale the "Pontifex Maximus" of the World Church Of The Creator, and his group. Have a great day!

If they could offer me eternal life, I would at least listen. If they could offer me a happier existence here, I might listen. If they could offer me fame and fortune and admiration from men, I possibly might listen. But you see, they have nothing whatsoever to offer.

They have not the faintest idea how they came to be here. They have not a clue as to how anything got here so they design foolish ideas and instead of calling them foolish ideas they call them scientific facts, which only tends to make them appear more foolish. We need to pray for the ones who know better that they will have a change of heart. And for the ones who truly do not know, we need to pray for their enlightenment and try to teach them.

So, what advantage is there to being a Christian? Even if we are totally wrong, we can still live our lives doing things which are right and rewarding. We can lay our heads down at night with the expectation, should we die in our sleep, to awaken to an eternal reward, far better than this life. It offers good, peaceful sleep if nothing more. A sincere Christian lives a moral, ethical and honest life that people respect and admire. Atheists become angry when I say that, accusing me of saying they are unethical, immoral and dishonest. No, but I say that their philosophy would be happy to allow them to be such. And, if they have those virtues, they got them from the Bible, not paganism, not atheism.

I witnessed a self proclaimed atheist's death once, he regained consciousness with a respirator attached, and although he could not speak, you could see the terror on his face as he realized he was dying. He remained conscious only a minute or two. He died from an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Good article, Joel. I, myself, could never understand how atheists can explain away--even using science--the obvious thought and genius that it took to develop all the things in our universe; including life--all the way down to the most minute cell. It boggles my mind and I will always and forever believe there is a being much greater than 'something that just happened.'

Thanks for the comment Sarah, and I agree. The problem is, almost all of them know they have no answer to thosequestions. Some have even acknowledged that a supernatural element is much more evident than their suppositions, but don't mention God, who is the answer. That would cause them to have to eat crow...which they refiuse to do.
