Nancy Pelosi: Mouth Of The House

Today's Rasmussen poll shows that Nancy Pelosi holds the honor of having the highest unpopularity rating in all of congress. In a survey of most likely voters nationally, those who have an unfavorable opinion of her was 55%. Highest of all in congress. Being nice to her however, the poll reckoned that it was because she is most recognizable of any in congress. I don't really see that to be any better. If she is better known than the others and still rates most unfavorable it would seem a stronger insult.

But Nancy simply asks for it. When she first became Speaker of the House of Representatives, she announced to someone that she was now the most powerful woman in the world. Egad! You might expect such a self appraisal from some 8 year old. How is she the most powerful woman in the world? And I'm sure this

Oh!, I know. She can order the lights to be turned off in the house so she can take her holiday a few hours earlier and also hopefully stymie any discussions the Republicans might want to produce. Also she can act like a small child pitching a wallowing fit when someone uses her private jet. Even if it isn't hers. I realize that the story of her demanding a huge military aircraft to fly her to the San Francisco area, has been much exaggerated and I do not criticize her for what happened concerning that. But to become angry and hateful because the plane she normally used was tied up at the time she needed it, is unforgivable. She, being the second step down to become president in case of a catastrophic event (God forbid) has caused the government to furnish private transportation for the house speaker since the hijacking on 9-11.

And she has now really pulled a no-no. She has denied the undeniable, she has accused the CIA of lying and anyone else who may have crossed her path. The rumor is that someone is planning a hearing on this matter and it may be that she has backed herself into a corner. If she lies, lied or has lied, she may even get a reprimand from congress...certainly nothing more. I would hope someone would replace her as Speaker.

As she and others, including the president were pushing and raving about the Bush administration and their horrible interrogation methods, she was wanting all concerned to be brought to justice. But when it developed that she had been briefed on their methods, she tried to deny that she had been so informed. After it was shown that she assuredly was present when the briefing was presented, she then said that there was nothing she could do about it so she did nothing. The most powerful woman on earth and she could do nothing about it.

House majority leader Steny Hoyer, from Maryland has been placed in an uncomfortable position. He knows that Pelosi has been lying but he cannot afford to say so. And even though he may, or may not desire to help her, he can only do so by placing himself in a position of defense also. It will be interesting to watch this play out.
