Vice-President Cheney the New Churchill

On May 21, former Vice President Dick Cheney delivered a masterful speech to the American Enterprise Institute. The message was comprehensive response to the endless stream of attacks, accusations and slanders heaped upon the Bush Administration’s conduct of the War with the Muslim terrorists. For some unknown reason, Mr. Bush chose not to respond to such attacks and the cumulative effect was such that the lies endlessly repeated by prominent political leaders and media spokesmen came to be believed as truth.
Now, without the restraints of office and political handlers, citizen Cheney has taken on the lot of their critics. With speeches that are Churchhillian in tenor, he has sent them reeling on their heels. It is obvious that a multitude of those who have heard his message have been favorably impressed. The heated reaction of the ruling party and the propaganda machinery of the Left is evidence of the effect of his blows. The Vice President spoke to the common citizen, not just to those of academia or campaign workers. Blind partisans and those miscreants who hate their own nation with their could not understand or appreciate the truths he told.
The quest for power is intoxicating. It causes politicians and their toadies to say and do anything necessary to get and keep power. It drives them to say vicious and outrageous things against honest and good men whose existence gives the lie to their claims.
I, for one, respect Mr. Cheney. He is a living demonstration of what it means to be a statesman and a patriot. It’s too bad that he has retired from public life. Under the leadership of him and Mr. Bush the Muslim terrorists were unable to carry out further plans for attack against our nation. Our future is not so certain.
