There are those who teach that man is predestined to heaven or hell and there is nothing he can do about it. They have the God given freedom to believe what they want and I respect that right, but this is contrary to that which is taught in the Holy Scripture. There is a difference in the fact that God knows for certain before a person is born, whether or not he will live a devout and faithful life, yet he is not forced to do whatever he does. There are far too many examples in the Bible of those of whom God recognized long before, just what they would do. We can start with the creation of man and woman, Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. These two were perfectly capable of withstanding the temptation Satan placed before them by distorting the promises God had made to them. Adam and Eve were placed in a very enviable environment with every need supplied. There was absolutely no need for them to sin. The Lord gave them one restriction, that not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Yet He knew beforehand that they would do so. He knew so strongly that they would sin and therefore usher sin into the world, that He had already planned to send His Son to the earth to offer a plan of redemption for the souls of man, approximately 4,000 years in the future (Genesis 3:15) (Acts 2:23) (John 1:14). There are over 300 prophesies of the coming of the messiah, Jesus, and all were fulfilled upon completion of His birth, life, ministry, death and resurrection. Now can you imagine for a moment, the complexity of an event occurring that would fulfill all of those? Notice the verse that is very easily passed over as non-important: "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law" (Galatians 4:4) No other time could have filled the bill for His coming. There were many requirements which had to be in place. There had to be a righteous virgin who had a cousin married to a priest to give birth to John the baptist. There had to be a child already born or soon to be whose disposition would bring about his betrayal of the Saviour. There had to be eleven others whose faith and strength would cause them to be loyal apostles of Christ. And many more such details, and only God could have known ahead just when, where and whom would fill that scenario. You see, God forces no man to obey Him or do His will. All men, beginning with Adam, have had free moral agency and is capable of making up his own mind as to what he wants to believe, to do, or not do. But on the other hand, God, with His infinite wisdom (infinite includes no limits whatsoever), He knows every move, every human (or sparrow, or roach) will make as long as it lives and He knows already what choice that human will have made and therefore, knows where each one will spend eternity. Keep in mind, the movements or actions are the choice of the individual, yet God knows what choice, or decision he will make. There is a vast difference in foreknowledge and predestination even though they may appear close to the same. We have to realize that God knows everything there is to be known! That boggles our feeble minds, doesn't it. But think about it. If He doesn't know it, it does not exist and never will. He knows what the future holds, every minute bubble that breaks, he has known of that bubble, it's coming into being and it's time to burst, from the birth of time. He knows every molecule of the most minute of chemical elements which exist in the universe. Otherwise, how could He have created it? He didn't just say, well, I believe I'll add a tablespoon of kryptonite to this area, for good measure.
