Throughout the history of mankind, God's people have been in the minority and have faced various levels of persecution, including at it's worst, torture and death. It may seem that Christians today are not in the minority, however, one is not a Christian based upon his self professed word. Christians who are walking in the footsteps of our Savior Jesus Christ, are in the minorty,
There is little doubt that this nation is currently headed into socialism with abandon. Although completely undesirable this is not, within itself, necessarily a threat to Christianity. But those who are taking us down the slippery slope into socialism are also determined to silence Christians. A socialistic government is one where government is in control of anything it desires to be, including speech, activities or anything else. The things to which we have been so accustomed. Freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom to own guns, and more.
Our present administration, executive, legislative, and much of the judicial branches are desirous of aborting all of the above mentioned freedoms. They presently have a bill they are intending to ram through, attached to another justifiable bill, which is referred to as the "Hate Speech" bill. Their pretense is that of stopping harassing and dangerous communications such as that which caused the recent suicide of a teen-age girl. That is not the real reason. The bill was being held for an opportune time to ram-rod it through. It's design and purpose is to stop free speech of any sort which is contrary to their agendas.
The first and main reason for it is to stop anyone such as Rush Limbaugh who exposes the truth behind their schemes, and to stop any biblical proclamation concerning sinful practices such as abortion and homosexuality. Anything contrary to current "politically correct" speech. The constitution, which has guided this nation for over two hundred years, is now being boldly flushed down the toilet.
Christians are duty bound to teach the word of God in it's fullness. Regardless of whom the truth may offend. First of all, Christians will be ordered to cease any efforts to convert others to their religion except in their church services. Then it will become prohibited in their services. This is already started to a certain degree. Later, they will be ordered to cease any proclamation which could show hatred towards any others. That will be the clincher. Any biblical teaching which condemns homosexuality, abortion, drunkenness, or such like can, and will, be classified as "hate speech". Even though it may have been said in love and in hope of helping the subject save his own soul.
Now, our nation is absolutely full of people who feel that no one should try and teach them anything other than what they presently believe, religiously. What if we recognize that what they are doing will result in their spending eternity in hell? We are still not supposed to tell them? The Bible orders us to do just the opposite. Here are two very pertinent scriptures.
"Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men." (Acts 5:29)
This frightening dilemma will, of necessity, separate the pseudo-Christians from the devout. Christians are commanded to be subject to the powers over us, whether it be a republic, democracy, socialist, monarchy or whatever. Even if it is very undesirable, and oppressive, but not when it requires us to do or say something contrary to God's word. How many Christians will stand up for Jesus name, in the face of possible fines or even incarceration?
The above scenario is very possibly in the future of the United States. Depending upon a lot of "ifs" and many unforeseen circumstances, it is even possible in the more distant future that this nation might come under Sharia Law. This law, under extreme rulers, does not allow for Bible teaching of Christianity and people have been put to death for such. Who then will refuse to denounce Christ as God's son, with a knife at their throat?
I realize that this last paragraph is perhaps very unlikely to ever occur but it remains within the realm of possibility. And Christians, to be pleasing unto God, should be able to determine within their own hearts now, that they will remain faithful even unto death. The early Christians in the first through the thirteenth centuries and even beyond that did exactly that. Actually, these types of occurences took place up until the time of the settlement of this great nation. People who taught something contrary to their governments, or church, were sometimes burned at the stake for "heresy".

You are hitting the nail right on the head with this hate speech business. If things keep going the way they are now one of these days Jesus will be considered guilty of the crime himself. I am not sure but what if the truth was known some already feel that way.

Thank you for speaking up! May we be filled with God's compassion, whether it is for civil New Age neighbors or brutal interrogators.
