In Five Easy Months, Obama Paints Himself Into A Corner

Everyone knew that all the big talk of "Change", and the wild promises of health care for everyone coming from the mouth of an inexperienced, naive student of Marx, could not be accomplished. But he determined to hit the ground running and by overbearing methods assisted by "all mouth" Pelosi and "no mouth" Reid, was able to ram-rod his agenda through an unsuspecting congress. Before anyone, including the three ramrod musketeers, gave any consideration to it or had any idea of the value or damage of it.

Now, already he has sunken us into the unimaginable depth of debt that we are in and has not even skimmed the surface of what he has set out to do. He and his congressional cronies, having touted the assurance of quality health care for all have now took a breath and find themselves being crushed against a brick wall with that enormously expensive program pressing the life's breath from them. The conservative members of Congress tried their best to warn them and to stop them, but that only caused them to hit it harder.

The confidence of the American people for these spenders is now teetering and ready to fall...is actually falling now, with one eye watching to see which way we head next. They now have about three choices they can choose from. None to their liking. They can do the wise thing and put this ever-loving health care thing on hold to see where the economy is going. As long as it is groveling in the gutter, there is no way it can handle the extra mega-load of costs. The tax payers cannot handle it.

To expect to tax the wealthy enough to carry this economy and add the unheard of burden which the healthcare program will add is total and irresponsible nonsense and everyone in Washington knows that. So a few days ago, Obama made the remark that one must expect to pay for what he spends. Brilliant. But his thinking was not that we must not spend, but that we must pay for it.

So, they can go one of the very unwise routes and destroy this country. They are presently trying to figure ways to tax the taxpayers in more ways. Tax them in ways they won't know they are being taxed. That's it! The Value Added Tax. In other words, tax each product in each step of it's production. An example: Tax the chemicals which are sold to the companies who turn the chemicals into raw goods (nylon, polyester, etc). Tax the raw materials as they are sold to the garment companies, and tax the garments as they are sold to the wholesaler, and again to the retailer.

Even an idiot knows that every bit of that tax money adds to the ultimate cost of the product so it is the poor consumer who bears the increased prices. Your income tax may not have increased but everything you spend your wages on will have increased and your purchasing power will be lowered tremendously. It is little joy to the consumer to have your income tax savings eaten up (and with interest) in taxes elsewhere.

There is also another route they can take, and they may wind up having to take both. They are toying with the idea of taxing your health benefits! The health benefits they are so eager for all to have, will be taxed. Now, this can be of considerable cost. Depending upon how much your employer contributes towards your health insurance (and it is normally considrable) you will be taxed as if that amount was income. Oh well, so much for not raising the poor man and middle income taxes on his wages.

There are many other things they can tax. More on tobacco and alcohol, a national sales tax, a tax on soft drinks, huge taxes on fast foods, outlawing any with trans-fats, tax on lodging, tax on transportation, on energy sources. The government can find the taxable items. Can we pay for them? All these taxes will be totally devastating on the economy. Consumer purchase will fall dramatically, resulting in higher unemployment, less purchasing still and on and on.

Regardless of which of these alternatives they decide to take, one or all, depend on your income's purchasing power to drop dramatically. And even if they do postpone the healthcare load, your taxes are already in the rising mode. The trillions already blown on totally worthless stimulus and bailout packages are already part of your personal debt. You will pay
