The Health Care To Cost Trillions, Worth Very Little

by Joel Hendon(754) Blue Star

The present push for universal health care is exaggerated and will benefit few, and those benefits will be poor. Dr. Eric Novack, an orthopedic surgeon who is a "patient advocate" from Arizona, testified Tuesday before the House Energy and Commerce's Subcommittee on Health concerning the present health care proposal and was interviewed by a CNS News reporter afterward.

Dr. Novack, without trying to deny the administration's estimate that there are 46 million uninsured people in the U.S., he argues that the number is very misleading. When broken down into those groups who are uninsured, it appears much different.

Number 1: Somewhere near 10 million of those are here illegally. These should not be considered.

Number 2: About 15 million more are chronically uninsured, either because of ill health which is pre-existing or other such factors as drug addiction, alcoholics, etc.

Number 3: Approximately 10 more million, or more, are uninsured by choice. "We have young people between 18 and 30, probably about another 10 million or so, they'd rather buy applications for their iPhone than buy health insurance," the doctor said.

Doctor Novack added, "The solution that we should be seeking out is not to change the health care of the other 97 percent of Americans. Let's seek solutions the best we can to make things better, make health care more accessible, and more affordable for the (other) three percent."

And I say "Amen to that". How many government run programs have you ever known that did not run excessive costs for whatever it was? Plus every thing that comes from the government is infested with pork and politics and always continues to worsen. This has been tried in Canada, England and a number of other countries, all which have resulted in sub standard health care plus an unbearable burden on taxpayers.
