We Can Learn From The Universal Flood
by Joel Hendon(755)
Just about everyone who has heard of the Bible, is at least partially familiar with the story of Noah. But not many have taken the time to analyze the event. First, it helps a lot to know what the circumstances were during Noah's life time.
Before God created man, He knew he would not live the devout and righteous life he would be instructed to do, so He even made preparation before the creation to send Jesus to the earth at the proper time to furnish a way to redeem man from his sins. But under the patriarchal age when Gods commands and instructions were being passed down from generation to generation, men grew constantly farther from God. During he life of Noah, evil and chaos was rampant. It seems almost miraculous that Noah could have remained faithful. Here is what is recorded in the scriptures:
"Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented Jehovah that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart" . (Genesis 6:5-6)
It makes one wonder just how devout and righteous today's man appears to God as He looks upon us. Do you think he sees the majority going about doing good to others and giving Him the glory for it? Does He see throngs gathered into the meeting places for Christians to worship, or does he think good that there are more on the lakes and other bodies of water, fishing, skiing, etc, or on the Golf courses and amusement parks? And even worse, he surely sees all the illicit and perverted sexual activities going on as it was in Noah's day. Add to that the greed and corruption which goes on in all levels of business an governments. The hypothetic evolutionist teachings promulgated into our laws and schools as fact, and on and on.
God has promised never again to destroy the world...by water. Notice that He does not promise never to destroy the world in any way. In fact, He has promised that it will be destroyed, along with the entire universe, with fire!
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?(2 Peter 3:10-12)
What amazes me more than anything else is that many "Christians" will read this article and classify it as mere fantasy and that these things haven't, and won't happen. If anyone doesn't believe the Bible completely and that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, then they do not qualify for the name Christian. That is not my decision, that is what is described in the Bible itself.
1 John2:22 says: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son
