Six Months of Mr. Obama's Hope and Change

by John Waddey(43)

We watched courageous young Iranians put their lives on the line to protest the rigged election of their tyrant, Achmedinejad. We saw them brutalized by Iranian police. It took President Obama a full week to find the courage to say it troubled him. Not one drop of encouragement was given to those who yearned for freedom. When the Supreme Court and governing body of Honduras expelled their Marxist president, who was maneuvering to circumvent the limitations on his tenure of government, immediately Mr. Obama protested and demanded that the democratically elected Marxist be allowed to return to power. When Marxists Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega railed against America in typical Communist fashion, Mr. Obama sat speechless, unable or unwilling to speak up in defense of the nation he leads.

When he travels abroad, our president is most comfortable in confessing the alleged sins of America and highlighting her deficiencies. He finds himself unable or unwilling to talk about our nation’s greatness, the personal freedom and opportunity democracy has given us, our defense of freedom in other lands, our remarkable generosity to other nations. He cannot bring himself to label as terrorists, those who plant bombs in churches, on buses, in shopping centers. He is eager to grant to foreign enemies, captured in the act of harming our nation or people, the privileges of our constitution and citizenship.

Given this recent history, we can now see the influence of Jeremiah Wright on Mr. Obama. Wright subscribes to and preaches Black Liberation Theology, which is a Marxist perversion of Christianity. For 20 years Obama sat at his feet and absorbed that anti-American teaching. We can now appreciate his cordial relationship with William Ayers, unrepentant, Marxist terrorist. Evidently Obama really sees nothing wrong with that violent and oppressive system.

Mesmerized by his personality and propaganda machine, millions of Americans voted for Mr. Obama and his vacuous promises of hope and change. Is this what they hoped for? Six months into his administration, we are left to wonder, what kind of nation will be left at the end of his term of office?
