For A Nation To Prosper, Its People Must Prosper

by Joel Hendon(178) Red Star

There are some basic rules which must be followed if a nation is to be a leader in the world and be prosperous. Take a look and see for yourself. A nation's populace makes or breaks the government, even if it is not a democracy but even more so when it is.

This administration, as many other past administrations cannot comprehend that. They feel that the government must be large, strong and wealthy in order to give a few dollars back to the people. Wrong! We have now sunk billions into "stimulus" packages and have nothing but more failure to show for it. The stimuli went to the wrong people. Can those in charge not see that the economy is not going to pick up so long as the American public have nothing to pick it up with? And they are now planning more of the same.

If all the stimulus money and all the bailout money which has been spent or planned for spending, had been funneled through the public in a manner to force the spending of it in certain ways, the voters would have benefited greatly and the auto manufacturers would be feeling the honest surge of business. The banks would be getting many of their debt holdings satisfied. Employment would have surged upward and the economy surged with it. Think about it. Banks get an enormous amount of bailout money...yet, they still have the unpaid mortgages, the people who borrow are too broke or too frightened to borrow. So the executives get bonuses or go on wild retreats.

The billions we have invested in companies have not benefited the man on the street in the least. The very people who lift or lower the economy are now suffering from overpricing of fuels, excess taxes and some still with exorbitant interest rates. We can all rest assured, that the economy is not going tio improve as long as these factors exist and especially when they rise! An absolute blind person ought to be able to see that. Do you think those who are out of work and trying to survive on one-fourth of what he was earning, or less, can pick the economy up?

These wrong moves on the part of the administration are frightening the people. How many mistakes can the country weather? Even now, we have at least three other bills in prospect which are going to backfire and cause more unemployment, more and higher costs and tremendous taxation! The "Sky Is Falling " bill, the universal health care bill and the next stimulus package. Many billions more spending which simply equates to higher prices and more taxes. And MORE unemployment, not less. Does that sound like a remedy for our ailments?

There is only one bright side to this enormous problem. Since the Democratic party has the control of all branches of government, and since the Republicans are trying to show the errors of the present actions, the general public is about to witness which philosophy is best for the nation. If we can only hold together until 2010.

Joel, right on target but who can buy any longer? The reality is the averge guy, family, girl, couple, whatever is dead. Yes dead and it doesn't matter to those in charge because when you look at everything people are still doing well. We're talkiing about 20% who died and another 15% on their last leg and those that have could care less. It is reality and "help is on the way" for who? Yes the facts, truth, reali8ty very clear. Good job, but sadly thats why it is on Webgazine. best wishes.

Thanks Robert, I agree with you. I'm driving an eleven year old Dodge Caravan. I don't know what I'll do when it decides to lay down. If they come up with those hybrids and others which put out less emissions, I'll never be able to buy one.  And in fact, with the 'cap and trade' provision planned, I won't be able to drive the one I have. I can foresee some very difficult times ahead.

Thanks for commenting.
