Marxism-Socialism: Coming Soon To A Town Near You
by Joel Hendon(564)
Many people do not have a clue what Socialism is and, in fact many think it would be great. It is not. Socialism, in theory, can easily convince the poor people that life would be better where government controls all aspects of the nation's business and monies. The poor are convinced they will have equal living standards, food and money as all others. The fact is that there are more poor, less government services, less food and less everything for those not of the upper echelon in government. It functions somewhat like a dictatorship only with a plurality of officials.
It will not work. It will usher in a broken nation, a non-productive nation, poor health care for all (except the elite). Check those nations who have partially or completely entered into socialism. Don't accept the propaganda of the government itself or even the news media under their influence. Check with the individual on the street.
Much of Europe and even Canada, has reverted to socialized healthcare and the reports from the common people are frightening. I heard a lady just yesterday who stated she has a close friend in Wales, with whom she corresponds regularly. The friend has a severe illness (I did not catch the exact identity of the illness) and has requested to see a medical doctor yet almost a month has passed and she has not yet been able to see one. This is not an unusual story, I have heard other similar ones.
But you don't have to take my word for this. How about some who have been through years of such? Would you believe their testimony? An article in the English version of Pravda, the Russian daily newspaper in April of this year gives you a broad look at our present direction and the consequences that held their country in virtual captivity for many years. I advise all to read the article and consider the possibilities for us. http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/107459-0/
You see, a nation does not have to slip into complete socialism overnight. They do not even have to recognize they are there. But when the government assumes control of much of the financial institutions, the large corporations, (ie auto industry) and the nations health care system, you are there. No one will have to mention that we are now a socialist country. But we will be. Incentive to work hard and develop new and better technology or products will have sunken to a low that productivity will bottom out.
It is not a pleasant thing to consider. See that your congressional representatives know you are not for such.
