Beware Of A New Healthcare Bill!

by Joel Hendon(171) Red Star

It now appears the HR3200 healthcare bill is ‘caput mortuum’, and the president is being encouraged to ask congress to toss it out and then he should specify the points he wants in a bill. Good start. But remember, President Obama is backed into the proverbial corner and as a cornered animal, he may come out with fangs showing.

So what is he faced with? His voter approval rating percentage has dropped into the 40’s whereas it was in the 70’s in February. The American public has shown their disdain for a government run health care program. The liberal’s rebuff to that is reminding them that they already have such in Medicare and Medicaid. Big deal. It flies right back in their faces because it proves that the government is incapable of managing such. Although both are good and valuable programs, their financial management stinks. The government has known for decades now that the programs would be in deep trouble in the future, but none were willing to take the measures to correct it. Now that they are on the verge of bankruptcy, we are expected to hand over a much greater, more complicated and more expensive program, with no visible means of paying for it. The president says we can pay a large portion of it by cutting the broken programs of Medicare and Medicaid!

So this means, the president faces the ire of the public if he insists upon a public option healthcare program. It would likely put his approval rating into the 20’s or low 30’s. Unacceptable for a presidential first year.

He has options, he can do the right thing and come up with a bill (not 1018 pages...but under 50) specifying (1) plans to lower medical costs (2) a plan to include existing conditions to be covered in insurance policies, (3) provisions for insurance coverage for the indigent, and (4) a plan for funding those provisions without crashing the economy or throwing all the old and/or disabled under the bus.

BUT, if he should make such a sensible move, the vast majority of the leading liberal Democrats would abandon him, George Soros and the MoveOn.org, the UAW, and many other financial backers would also leave him.

The Democratic leaders, as they return from their vacation, are already planning to meet behind closed doors with their own members whose political life depends upon appeasing their moderate constituents, and twisting both arms into a corkscrew. May God grant them strength. If the liberal leaders try and ram the old bill through, I believe their reward will be forthcoming in their next election.

Many of those highly influential Democratic leaders have forcefully said, “No public option, No bill”! I do hope their constituents remember them when their jobs come up for renewal. And for those who are not elected by the public, I hope their colleagues will remove them from their appointed posts. But just the healthcare reform bill is not all that is at stake.

There are other actions which the administration has planned, some of which are as distasteful to the American voter as was this fiasco. In fact, it may mean the president will have to limp on through his next 3+ years. Those of whom he deeply offends with the healthcare bill, regardless of the outcome, may choose to oppose him on his next efforts. The cap and trade proposal is a horrible mistake and will, most likely erode his popularity (along with the other Democrats) even more than this present bill has done.

The cap and trade plan will destroy whatever little strength our economy may have left. It will have an enormous cost, something we can not afford at this time.
All of these expenses are going to have to be met with some means of payment.
TAXES! Taxes coming out of our ears. Hitting those with incomes of over $250m per year won’t meet the requirements. But taxing everything anyone, anywhere must purchase, might do it. Add another $1.00 to each pack of cigarettes, punish those people. Add another $1.00 or $2.00 to each gallon of gasoline (after all, the British have always paid $5.00 to $10.00 per gallon) and let the poorest of the poor, walk to their work (tax their shoes...arrest them if they go barefoot). They ought to have had better sense and become politicians.

The Fairness in Broadcasting idea is not dead, just laid on the back burner until someone feels the time is right. Gun regulation is also waiting for a cooler voter climate. Also such as Hate Speech laws, restrictions on where and how the name of God or other Christian words will be allowed, special rights for homosexuals, and on and on.  But many of these are now endangered because of the idiotic effort to take over the health industry by government. The populace has not forgotten what happened to Chrysler and General Motors.  Here is an explanation of why they were allowed to bankrupt:

In 2008 alone, the UAW gave $4,161,567 to the Democratic Party, including Barack Obama. In return, the UAW received 55 percent of Chrysler and 17.5 percent of GM, plus billions of dollars.

And so it was no surprise to the cynical Washington political class when the payback began with the Chrysler bankruptcy.

In a rigged proceeding in which the federal government disregarded bankruptcy law in favor of the political outcome it desired, the Chrysler bankruptcy laid the predicate for the much larger General Motors bankruptcy to come. Against law and precedent, the unions were moved to the front of the line when it came to who would benefit from the bankruptcy. The Obama Treasury Department strong-armed Chrysler’s creditors into a deal in which the UAW was given 55 percent ownership of the company while Chrysler’s secured creditors – investors who would have received priority in a non-political bankruptcy proceeding – were left with just 29 cents on the dollar. (Once We Would Have Called It A Scandal:  HumanEvents.com-Newt Gingrich 6-10-2009)

Not far ahead, you will also see a strong renewed effort to pass the highly controversial “Card signing, no secret ballot for the autoworkers” bill. This would enable the union organizers to harass those who prefer not to join a union and convince many to sign for fear of retaliation.  All of these projects which the present administration owes their supporters will come to the surface again.

Do you type while you listen to Rush Limbaugh? I don't see anything here besides what Rush has been spouting, and in my opinion is way off base.

I never listen to Rush Limbaugh. I never listen to a radio. If he has been saying this, I agree with him. And frankly, the reason I feel as I do about this is because they are dead set on controlling the healthcare industry as well as the financial system and everything else. He is surrounded by rogues and thugs. That is not by accident. I promise you, whatever Obama says in his speech to the joint sesssion of congress, will be directly from the mouths of those of whom he is indebted.

Their plan for running the health care industry will be a failure if passed. We don't have enough money to pay for such a system and half of what he will be able to get will be taken from the Medicare-Medicaid fund. They are broken already, so what will become of them if he robs them. I'm one who depends upon those funds, after paying into them for almost 50 years.

Right on target. B. Hussein Obama will be known as the "Black Jimmy Carter. Only problem is, that while Carter was a fool, Obama is not. He is a committed Marxist and therefore much more dangerous. He must be stopped.
