New “Trigger” Option: A Sneak Attempt

by Joel Hendon(177) Red Star

There are those who have been adamant that any healthcare bill have a public option, including even the world’s most powerful Wonder Woman, Nancy, who just a few days ago affirmed that there “will be a public option in the bill that leaves the house”. But now, since it becomes apparent that a more conciliatory bill will be proposed by the White House with the things that the president insists upon having in it and compromises towards those things he does not insist upon.

It is also reported that the public option can be left out IF a trigger option is inserted which gives the insurance companies fair warning. Should they not find ways of lowering their costs of insurance and create means for all to be insured, all the administration has to do is pull the trigger...zap!, Public option.

Unless it is made clear, in very precise language, that any trigger will have to be discussed and passed through congress, the legislation should not be passed. The top Democrats, in the legislative, executive and judicial branches, are totally dedicated to a government healthcare program. Complete socialist health care.

It would be far more likely to be accepted if the public option was completely left out of any healthcare bill, then if the necessary goals were not met by the insurance companies, a new bill could be considered. I do not believe a government run healthcare plan is practical nor that it would pass congress. A favorite remark of proponents of such a plan is that we already have a government run plan in Medicare and Medicaid. Which only proves the point of those who oppose a government run healthcare system. These programs are facing bankruptcy in the near future, as is the U.S. Postal Service.

Even Fancy Nancy has approved the idea of a “trigger” clause in the bill. You can be 100% sure, there is something amiss if she is for it. Don’t forget, she is the one who refused to allow floor discussion on the first stimulus bill, and even had the lights turned out so some who wanted to stay and discuss it after hours, could not.

The primary problem with the processes put into effect so far this year is that they have been shoved through without time to study and discuss them in detail. One of the basic complaints of those who spoke out at the town-hall meetings was that almost all of the proponents of the bill had not even read it themselves!

It is absolute stupidity for any elected legislator to vote to pass any bill when they have not read it personally, carefully and considerately. I strongly doubt that Nancy Pelosi has yet read it. If she has, I am convinced she did not understand it.

Senator Baucus has still set September 15 as the deadline for the Finance Committee to pass a bill. It is not even written yet, and the old one has not been thoroughly read yet. This is absolutely irresponsible. Any new bill may be some less lengthy than the present SR3200 with 1018 pages, but the fact is, if a new bill is drawn up with thoroughly consideration to each aspect, it will not even be written by September 15.
