What do you reckon it takes to be a bona fide lie? South Carolina Representative Wilson, told the president he lied when he said none of the healthcare reform would cover anyone who is not a legal resident. That one is kindly up in the air. Perhaps the reform bill will even say that it will not cover illegals...but, they are already covered by government’s Medicaid program. He had better watch his words. He may find them uncovered by the time he finishes cleaning the waste and fraud from Medicare and Medicaid, because there will not be anything left. And he may be able to throw all the elderly and disabled under the bus, but never can he do that to illegal aliens.
Let’s look at a few more fuzzy incidents. The president as well as the “mouth” of the House of Representatives, have told everyone that a public option in the healthcare insurance reform bill would add competition to the private insurers and lower health care costs. They both know that is an untruth but we mustn’t say “You Lie”.
Now they are trying to take over and bar any private competition to the student loan program. The government student loan program itself was originated sixteen years ago to offer competition to the private sector lenders. It has worked very well, although there are some things which should be amended. But to take over completely and not allow any competition from private firms is ludicrous and I suspect, unconstitutional. Of course this administration feels our constitution is a hindrance and against their plans for a government takeover. Now here comes more of their untruths. They say that this move could save about $80 billion dollars to offer more lower income students loans as well as bring down the deficit! They know that is an out and out...“untruth”! The Congressional Budget Office says that it will add $283 billion in federal spending over a 10 year period. Who's lying here?
Now, today I learn that the White House is collecting and storing information they gather from networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, without the consent of the users. Now, everyone knows what the president said in his campaign and early days following his election. That he would have total transparency in his government and also pledged to protect everyone’s privacy.
He and the DNC also ridiculed the Bush administration for “illegal” wiretapping in an effort to stop terrorism. Of course now Obama says we are not fighting terrorism. I wonder what his excuse for this illegal breach of privacy is.
“Mark Rotenberg, president of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, said, “The White House has not been adequately transparent, particularly on how it makes use of new social media techniques, such as this example,"
“Defenders of the White House actions said the Presidential Records Act requires that the administration gather the information and that it was justified in taking the additional step of asking a private contractor to "crawl and archive" all such material. Nicholas Shapiro, a White House spokesman, declined to say when the practice began or how much the new contract would cost.
“Susan Cooper, a spokeswoman for National Archives and Records Administration, said the presidential records law applies to "social media" and to public comments "received (emphasis mine-JHH) by the president or immediate staff." (W.H. collects Web users' data without notice: Audrey Hudson-Washington Times, Sept 18, 2009)
Now are those defenders of this sneak attack on privacy telling a lie or would it be Susan Cooper who tells it like it is? I wonder how much it is costing in taxpayer money to “ask” a private contractor to “crawl and archive” all such material.
Adding to their untruths, there is now an organized movement called “Health Care for America Now (HCAN) backed by labor unions, ACORN, and Moveon Org., to form demonstrations against the ”healthcare enemies”. They hope to offset the “rowdy” town hall meeting debates and target the evil insurance providers. With such uncouth backers, I don’t see how they could influence many. And, as the liberals who tried to say that the grassroots demonstrations were “organized”, certainly they were not in any way organized as this promises to be. If, they can assemble as many as came to Washington on September 12, you can almost assuredly expect trouble. It will be interesting to see in their actions...who shows more civility.
