What To Expect Of Republicans In 2012?

When the election was over in November, 2008, the Republican leaders went into immediate action. Much of their initial discussion in the huddle is still not well known. But it is known that there is division in the party... just how strong is another matter. Some with more moderate inclinations think a middle of the road approach should be taken. But this author feels that is the exact thing which caused their defeat. It was a definite mistake to have chosen John McCain as their candidate. I suspect that almost half of those who voted for him in the presidential election would not chosen not to, had he not picked Sarah Palin for his running mate. The conservatives were disappointed in George W. Bush for his “middle of the road” approach, especially on spending. And many, I for one, felt that McCain was even farther left.

It presently appears there will be a lengthy roster of prospective candidates. Just how many will wind up actually running remains to be seen, lack of funds will probably eliminate a number of them. Let’s look at some of the more likely leaders. I will place them according to my own preference but will try and indicate where they may stand with conservatives in general.

(Newt Gingrich) Newton Leroy McPherson, currently 66 years old was raised in a military family and received his education from various locations. He was graduated at the Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia in 1961. In contuing this education, he received his B.A. Degree from Emory University in Atlanta, his M.A. and later his PhD from Tulane University in New Orleans.

His political career began with two unsuccessful attempts for the House of Representatives before winning in 1978. He was re-elected ten times. He succeeded Dick Cheney as minority whip in 1989 and after co-authoring the “Contract with America” in1994, was credited with much of the highly successful takeover of the House by the Republicans and was chosen Speaker of the House that year. When they lose 5 seas in the 1998 election, he resigned. He may be the most brilliant politician of our time.

(Condoleezza Rice) Not presently considering running and not expected to. Just my second choice if she would.

(Sarah Palin) Most are familiar with Sarah as the running mate of John McCain. She frightened the liberals out of their shoes. They did what they do best and ridiculed everything about her, lies and distortions to make her look inadequate. They contended she did not have the experience necessary, eventhough she had more pertinent experience than their presidential candidate. She was honest in declaring her stand toward abortion, gay marriage and other conservative issues. So they used them to distort her stands. Her morals and ethics were more admirable than many had ever witnessed so they tried even harder to discredit here, even by ridiculing her children. They exposed their own true morals and ethics.
This article will be much too long if I continue to detail each potential candidate but I will list most of them in order of my own preference.

(Bobby Jindal) Governor of Louisiana, has performed exceedingly well in this capacity.

(Tim Pawlenty) Governor of Minnesota, another with his head on straight.

Others I wish were running but will not, J.C. Webb, and I wish Alan Keyes was back in the Republican party and would run. I also wish Fred Thompson was a few years younger and would run...and this time put his heart and soul into it. He would be our current president if he had put his heart into the campaign.

And others whom I do not think can win if they run: Mike Huckabee, Richard Burr, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, Ron Paul, Eric Cantor, Jon Huntsman, Rudy Giulliani and more.
