Our government was formed by wise men, who created three branches to balance the power between the Judicial, Executive, and Legislative divisions. It has worked well for over 200 years even when we had some unscrupulous characters in either department. Each branch attended to their particular responsibilities and were able to hold in check any who tried to usurp the authority of another. Until now. Let us consider some of the things which have gone on since this administration took office in January.
Once the election of the president was confirmed, the Democratic party was so ecstatic they began collusions between the hierarchy of the party, the president elect and the leaders of the Democratic majority in congress, behind closed doors. The president promised to have things aligned and be ready to “hit the ground running” on January 21. Sounded good. He also promised in his campaign to work across the aisle and include the Republicans in all the proposals he put forth. He would be the one to gain bi-partisan cooperation. He made wild promises (but then, what are political promises?) that he would bring the troops home from Iraq in his first year. He would capture or kill Osama bin Laden, he would destroy al-Qaeda and the Taliban. He would close Guantánamo. His administration would be the most transparent of any.
Eight months after being sworn in, he has not accomplished either of those promises as yet. But most blatantly, his administration has been the most secretive, sneaky and collusive, of any previous administration in history, to my knowledge. He, and the democratic majority congress have not tried to be bipartisan in the least. They say they have, but the only way they’ve tried is to write up bills completely in opposition to conservative thought, then encourage the conservatives to pass it. When they vote against it, they become the “no” party. He then accuses them of not offering a better plan, which is an outright lie. They have offered better plans but were unable to even get them considered.
At the urging of the president, his legislative majority rushed to develop bills, then rammed them through the house and senate, not allowing time for reading, much less floor discussion. And one of the first ones, was altered after it had passed the Senate. This was simply fraudulent and criminal, but the perpetrator was not chastened in any way.
Two months after being sworn in, President Obama asked the General Motors CEO, Rick Wagoner, to step down from his position, and he did. This is not the responsibility of a president. This is a free country. But, the president, usurped the authority and made this business move. He declares that the government has no desire to “run” the automobile business. Yet he will do anything to assist a major financial backer, as the UAW, in their quest for power over the industry.
Presidents have faced rude and harsh criticism, perhaps from the time of George Washington, some have criticized back, but most simply turn a deaf ear to it and consider the source. Not this administration. They fight back and call the American people who dissent, ignorant, racists, Astroturf. They make every effort to squash any dissent rather than heed and try to compromise. They use taxpayer monies to purchase ads promoting their agenda although the majority of taxpayers object. When the chips appear to be down, they resort once more to their closed door meetings and arm twisting methods to achieve their goals. Pushing all of this in the face of plunging poll numbers. They bet their careers on worthless bills which will worsen their standings when proven to be worthless.
Now, a small country in central America, Honduras, who legally ousted their lawbreaking president, and replaced him, are being sanctioned by our administration and reportedly about to be intervened with a coup...at the behest of our president! Where is congress? This is not the responsibility of our president, to be involved, or even approve of, interference in a legitimate foreign governments affairs. A tiny country the size of Virginia.
Today, I learned that a large health care insurer, Humana Health Insurance Co. reportedly sent a letter to their customers warning them to be careful of the health care bill by Senator Baucus which is now being considered because it would reportedly take $500 billion from the Medicare fund to help cover those who are not now covered. This is similar to the original HR3200 which has been all but demolished by now. What the administration wants you to believe is that they can withhold $500 billion dollars from a program which is already going broke and headed for bankruptcy. They can’t even head off the deepening deficit for the program now, more especially after removing $500 billion more. Yet they expect you to trust them on that.
But, the REAL kicker is that the Obama Administration has launched an investigation of Humana and the Health and Human Services department sent them a warning letter.
HHS ordered the company to immediately halt any such mailings, and remove any related materials from its Web site. In the letter, the government also said it may take other action against Humana, which is based in Louisville, Ky. (AP: Government investigates health insurance company mailer: BrettBart.com-Sept. 21, 2009)
This is a free country? Where is congress? This is abuse of power in anyone’s book. The Insurance company is simply trying to alert people to the hazards hidden in these ridiculous bills. But you must not dissent against this administration.
