States Passing Resolutions To Nullify National Healthcare Reform

Since evidence mounts indicating the federal government is hell-bent to usurp and override states rights, a number of states passed resolutions affirming their sovereignty under the tenth amendment of the constitution, early this year. Numerous others were considering following suit. However many, to their shame, backed off in the face of stimulus funds which might have been rejected.

Renewed interest has arisen during the robust healthcare reform debate, and the appearance of ramming it down the throats of the American people. The administration is once again considering using the “nuclear” procedure to get their bill passed, notwithstanding that 54% of voters oppose it at this point. The pressure from those whose money elected our president, is overwhelming common sense and any form of compromise. They profess to having spent weeks at striving for bipartisan compromise, however it has been weeks devoted to wrangling and arm twisting to bring people to their way of thinking instead of compromise. There is a differfence. All efforts to offer plans of compromise have been scuttled.

In view of the prospective forced healthcare upon the people with fines (taxes) levied against those who do not buy into it, Arizona, Florida and Michigan have passed resolutions to hold state referendums for a constitutional ammendment to reject mandatory participation in such a federal plan without penalty. Georgia and Louisiana have announced plans to also propose a referendum for a constitutional ammendment. Recently, such a resolution has been introduced in the state of Ohio Senate. For those who wish to see what such a resolution proposes, here is a link to Ohio’s resolution as presented. It may be amended or possibly never passed, but this is the proposed copy.

Heavy handed political maneuvers as are being conducted at present are un-American and may cause extreme reactions. Too much of it will mean political suicide for those proponents, but the damage which can be done by such in the meantime is potentially enormous. Our legislators must wake up to the dangers lurking around the corner.

For those who love this country and do not wish to see it destroyed, and if you have liberals in congress from your area, it is now time to demand them to back off. We need health care reform, but we do not need this presently proposed plan. All legislators should vote against any bill which they have not been allowed time to read and discuss. To blindly accept the words of the corrupt politicians now in leadership positions, is insanity. Senator Baucus seemed to honestly try hard to arrange some minor compromise, but pressure from above has hardened his stance.

Word is presently out that a sneak plan is now in the making to attach the healthcare bill to another one to slip it through. Read this blurb from Humanevents.com, then go read the full article.

The Senate plans to attach Obamacare to a House-passed non-healthcare bill. Ironically, nobody knows what that legislation looks like, because it has not yet been written. Yet many members plan to rubber-stamp Obamacare without reading or understanding the bill.

The Senate Finance Committee worked furiously last week to mark up a “conceptual framework” of health care reform. The committee actually rejected an amendment by Sen. Jim Bunning (R.-Ky.) to mandate that the bill text and a final cost analysis by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) be publicly available at least 72 hours before the Finance Committee votes on final passage . http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=33740

Great article. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I wonder if states that do manage to pass the resolution to nullify the health care bill if enacted, will actually have the wherewithal to hold back the Federal government from enforcing the health care bill's mandates.

They should be, however, I doubt it will turn out that way. First of all, the feds, would start withholding funds for every purpose they could, and strangle the state, I think. Plus, any such confrontation would result in a court case and these days, even our Supreme Court would probably bypass the constitution and side with the government. The tenth amendment is quite clear. It was to stop interference from other states, as well as  the Federal Govrnment, which went against their own desires. Thanks for reading and commenting on my article
