As We Flush Ourselves Down The Toilet
by Joel Hendon(756)
Many wonder how the United States of America could have reached this ridiculous mess in which we find ourselves. Some will quickly say, "Obama", while others yell just as loudly, "Bush"! No, it is much more complicated than that and has been in the making much longer. Without a doubt, both of these men have added to it as have many others. When we say "others", we mean many.
Sometimes we ought to just sit back and consider the many errors which have been made over the years and most of them were predicted and/or foretold by our founding fathers, and even farther back. Back around 1917, when Russia was having their share of troubles and various leaders were vying for control, one Vladimir Lenin said, "Sell the capitalists enough rope and they will hang themselves!" I doubt the man knew just how truthful his statement was.
We have always ridiculed the communists and felt mighty superior to them in our government, of the people, by the people and for the people. But you see, there are numerous ways a democracy, or republic can be operated and it is almost predictable as to the outcome. I read a prophetic quotation once and now I cannot recall who made it. Nor can I quote it verbatim, but I can explain the general gist of it and make the point. He said that a democratic government by the people could not long survive. Because, as soon as the people learn that they can vote leaders in who will grant them favors and gifts, and when the politicians learn that promises and granting of such gifts will get them elected, the source of the monies expended notwithstanding, the people will vote themselves more gifts than they can possibly pay for and will be taxed into destruction. This is not exactly the position we are now in, but all provisions are in place for it to be so.
Consider our present position on the precipice of disaster. Not only are we now eleven trillion dollars in debt with payments of $540 billion interest annually, we are in a position as of quicksand, we should have saved a bit of Lenin's rope to lasso a stump or something as we go under. There is currently no improvement in sight as our financial analysts predict deficit spending to continue as far as they can calculate. Actually there is evidence that this trend will worsen. How far can one sink into debt?
We buy $700 billion annually in goods from China and they in turn buy $67 billion from us! This is one area, but there are many more. Our industries have moved to foreign countries and now, it is impossible to find American made goods in most products. So the "Buy American" phrase has bit the dust. Those industries which remain, in large part, are low paying and mostly filled by illegal immigrants. Plus we are welcoming 160,000 legal immigrants each and every month while we have some 14 million U.S. citizens standing in the unemployment lines. The immigrants cost us as do those standing in those lines.
Now to put the lid on the jar, we are about to commit ourselves to a world wide treaty to cool the global atmosphere, which is already in a cooling mode, and whose costs are unknown but estimated by many as trillions for the American taxpayer.
Not only will this treaty require larger nations to spend many billions each year on reduction of CO2 emissions, those more wealthy nations will be required to pay up to $100 billion per year to help the poorer nations prepare for a 2 degrees centigrade increase in global temperature.
Here is a blurb from the U.N. News Center:
Ms. Sierra underscored the need for developing nations to prepare for large-scale infrastructure costs, disease and huge losses in agricultural productivity as the potential consequences of unchecked climate change.
The U.N. itself has propagated this global warming scare for it's own interests and agenda. They have published altered graphs of the increasing warmth and are totally ignoring the fact that the warming trend has been over now for eleven years.
These problems have been accrued over years of mistakes. Free trade between nations has now become what everyone considers an absolute necessity. I do not believe that. If we had our industries of textiles, electronics and just about everything else back we would have almost everyone working. Our trade deficit would probably be reduced to nothing or even have a surplus. It is plain common sense that a nation whose employees earn from $6 per hour up to $60 dollars per hour or more, cannot compete in a free trade environment with those who pay their workers $1.25 per week. How we ever got ourselves into such a lop sided situation, I'll never understand.
We have 10 million illegal workers here that are costing us dearly when treated under Medicaid now. But if the Health Care Reform passes to include free care to the approximately 7 million of them who have no insurance and earn under 400% of the poverty level it will add an additional cost estimated at $30.5 billion annually.
