An ABI agent along with the Phil Campbell Chief of Police, Merrell Potter have gone to Tunica, Mississippi today to bring Roland Pollard, aged 49, back to the Franklin County Jail. Franklin County is located Northwest of Birmingham and is bordered on the west by Mississippi.

Pollard was arrested by police in Tunica on Thursday last, at the America’s Best Value Inn located on Casino Center Drive in Tunica. A warrant was issued on Wednesday for Pollard by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, charged with first degree robbery of the Phil Campbell branch of the CB&S Bank on September 23.

Chief Potter reported that Pollard had apparently waived extradition process and he and the agent from the Alabama Bureau of Investigation would be going for him on Monday.

Crimestoppers located in Muscle Shoals, received a tip that a Chevrolet Astro van was used in the robbery and the description matched a van found at Pollard’s residence at 2011 Hixon Avenue in Florence, Alabama on Tuesday.

The Florence Police Special Operations Team staked out the house for several hours but after no one left or entered, they forced entry into the house. No one was inside but a search of the premises by FBI and ABI agents yielded evidence of value to the investigation.

Further investigation led to the knowledge that Pollard had an addiction to gambling and that he might be in Tunica. It was also learned that he might be driving a 1997 black Nissan Maxima. The authorities notified the Tunica police and they found an auto matching that description at the motel where the arrest was made.

Police in Athens, Alabama stated that Pollard is also a suspect in robbery of the TVA Credit Union, located on East Hobbs Street in Athens, on July 9, 2010. They also said that he might be implicated in other robberies.
