America owes the ‘Tea Partiers’ at least a few kudos

It doesn’t matter who’s side you may be on, there are some things which are simply right or wrong regardless of who does them. Whether or not one blindly accepts Obama’s efforts as good ones, he and his coolies have followed some procedures which no one should ever accept. He lied  when truth would have served himself and the voters better. He ridiculed the Republican legislators for voting ‘no’ on measures which they had not been allowed to argue or negotiate, and some they had not even been allowed to read (and none of the Democrats had either). He personally met behind closed doors with Democratic leaders in congress to sneak things through the legislative process.

Most of us have not forgotten that sneaky Chris Dodd inserted some language in a bill AFTER it had been passed. That should have been a felony offense. It was not rescinded nor was Dodd even reprimanded for it as far as I have heard. He said he was told to do it! By whom, and who actually made the decision to do that?

But, the primary things which have been helped by the appearance of the T.P’s, are those things which have shown many of the Democrats now in congress, that they cannot rubber-stamp every thing uttered by BHO, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. A number of them who now have their backs to the wall in the imminent election, have now renounced some of their previous rubber-stamps.

One instance is the big labor unions whom Obama acknowledged that he ‘owed them’. Their greatest hopes were built upon the passing of the Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act (EFCA). This one act is absolutely one of, if not THE, most un-American, rottenest measures imaginable. The very idea stinks. Why would anyone want to stop a secret ballot? Only so they would be able to intimidate and harass any dissenters. Labor unions and some of their members have a horrible reputation in times past, for violence and even killing occasionally, of those who did not participate in their strikes. I have personally witnessed such.

Today, those labor unions hierarchy and the president have seen their hopes for that bill being passed, being flushed down the drain. West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin is one good example.

Manchin states now, since he is running for the U.S. Senate, that he didn’t support the EFCA and doesn’t now after encountering fierce opposition from numerous businesses, small and large, plus voters.

This comes after Manchin received the endorsement of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and publicly stated his support for EFCA, even signing a letter to Senate leadership. His most recent statements continue a bandwagon effect where candidates across the country are running away from union bosses. (EFCA Supporters Head for the Hills-Katie Gage; T.H. online)

In Colorado, after months and months of silence on his stance concerning the Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act, Senator Michael Bennet finally stated he would not support the legislation. The Workforce Fairness Institute continues to put pressure on Bennet to solidify this stance by joining with other Colorado candidates who oppose EFCA’s specific provisions and put it in writing. (Ibid)

This bill, the EFCA, would do away with an individual employee’s right to cast a secret ballot, and much more. It also removes the right for them to vote on mandates which empowers the  federal bureaucrats to force terms on employers as well as the employees. Just as important is the fact that a recent economic study revealed that enactment of this bill would result in the loss of 600,000 jobs in the first year. No sane legislator would vote for such a bill, but those who follow Obama with their eyes closed would. The unions must be paid  back the near half billion dollars they sunk into the 2008 presidential and congressional campaigns.

The two senate examples above are not alone, a number of House Democrats are also now trying to hide behind anything they can find since they were in favor of this atrocious piece of legislation. It now appears that this bill will never come up for debate, however, it leaves a negative mark upon those who originally opted to follow Obama so closely. When one has to be backed into a corner to change their minds, who can trust them further.

I realize that the ‘Tea Partiers’ are not totally responsible for these death-bed conversions but their stirring up the voters and emboldening of many businesses, played a part. Neither is this one bill, the EFCA, the only one which has developed a number of converts. Many of these things should reflect shame on those who first embraced these unbelievable pieces of legislation. It is a result of following the president and/or the party, regardless of what they present, rather than reading and trying to evaluate each bill...or listening to their constituents.

Whatever losses the Democrats suffer in next week’s election, they deserve it. Because they had control of both houses and the executive branch, instead of trying to work with the opposing party, they simply ran rough-shod over them. This resulted in no compromising or conciliatory action on the part of either side.

It is looking more and more as if the ‘most powerful woman in the world’ will be just another peon after mid-January 2011. And there is a fair chance that her counter part in the senate may also lose his glorified position. Why are there always more horses behinds than there are horses?
