Al Qaeda Involved In a Number of Mid-East Uprisings: Extent Unknown

Evidence continues to mount that al Qaeda has influenced to some degree, unrest in more than just Libya. The Libyan Dictator, Moammar Qaddafi, has proclaimed from the beginning that they have been deeply involved in the rebellion being carried on in his nation. He warns that these are not pro-democracy rebels but rather al Qaeda militants whose intent is to make Libya a base for global jihad.

Most “experts” say that Colonel Qaddafi is exaggerating the extent of the al Qaeda influence. As usual, the “experts” remain unidentified while the Qaddafi backers keep reporting the activity of al Qaeda against them.

The Qaddafi foreign minister, Moussa Koussa, defected to Britain on Wednesday which throws more questions into the fray. Koussa is suspected of having been involved or at least privy to the

Pan Am 103 bombing outside Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988. Scottish investigators have requested permission to interview Koussa concerning the bombing.

Koussa is a possible goldmine of information if his interrogations are pursued properly, no only of the aircraft bombing but of any al Qaeda activities in Libya. But with the “experts” having been totally convinced that the al Qaeda activities are minimal, the U.N., the U.S. and NATO have plunged into the fight, which is highly likely to be on the wrong side.

The scope of active US and British involvement with the Libyan rebels came under close scrutiny last night as it emerged that western intelligence agents were on the ground in the country and that Barack Obama had signed a secret order authorising covert help.

Obama signed an order, known as a "finding", within the last two or three weeks, Reuters reported. The move will undoubtedly fuel speculation that the US and its allies are planning to actively arm the rebels. The White House and the CIA both declined to comment on the report.

According to sources interviewed by that same Guardian article, they report that British Intelligence as well as the CIA, are already working on the ground in Libya, including agents who were already located there, who are helping direct the incoming firepower to strategic targets as well as gathering intelligence.

President Obama is facing pressure from both Democrats and Republicans, for acting unconstitutionally in entering the fray and for having no definitive goals or plans for being there.

With the mood as it is in the middle eastern and some African countries, it is imperative that the U.S. and our allies be perfectly convinced of what we are entering into, what our intentions are and how we intend to accomplish them. We are almost into World War 3, even though it is broken into bits and pieces. The world economies are in no condition to weather this kind of turmoil and the final results are frightening to consider.
