The Administration Has 16 Months To Convince Voters They Have A Plan

The natives are very restless. With only 16 months of the 48 left before election time again, they have a right to be restless. The Obama administration campaigned last time on one word…Change! But they grabbed the football and ran the wrong way!! While closing in on a full term for the president, they are still headed for the disaster goal. Unemployment is still running much higher than they promised it would ever reach. The polls show clearly that a clean sweep will be made by the conservatives in November 2012, barring a prompt reversal of the field and record breaking 100 yard dash in the right direction. Which is very unlikely.

The big shift in voters preferences which occurred in 2010, fortunately, has enlightened a few. But not nearly enough to reverse the stampede. The Democrat majority has yet to disclose any form of a workable plan. Their only plan is, more of the same. More wasted stimulus dollars, more ramming legislation through which will destroy still more jobs and cause higher prices. More taxes, more borrowing, more unjust cuts in Social Security and Medicare. The $500 billion reduction in Medicare which is supposed to be from elimination of waste and fraud. But what they are getting is a mass exodus of physicians to the plan, leaving mostly those in fraudulently operated schemes.

They can no longer wrongly blame George W. Bush for the economy collapse, even though it was never his. The collapse began under the oversight of his last two years of Democratic majority in the congress. Plus the Freddie and Fannie fiasco under the crooked oversight of Dodd and Frank, both Democrats.

However, after the almost three years of failures and tripling of our indebtedness, and the ramming down the throats of voters, highly undesired bills and angering many of them, the administration still has a stubborn following who would rather see the nation go under than to be shown wrong. They still have a squeaky chance of not losing all of their control. How? Simply by listening to some of their arch-enemies IDEAS. They have none of their own, so why not listen to the possibilities available. The Republicans in control of the House, are working…hard. They are trying to formulate a plan which will get the economy rolling again.

And the fact is, their plans are workable. If enough Democrats get behind these ideas they can salvage a little of the credibility they once held. It appears that there are some of the newer ones who won recently based on their moderate ideas, who indeed will become a part of the rescue team. If these things can get passed, not only will the creators of the ideas be commended but those who voted for them will also be virtually assured of re-election.

One year ago today, the Obama administration launched its “Recovery Summer” publicity tour to bolster flagging support for the “stimulus.” Vice President Biden said, “The fact is, the recovery act is working.” But the fact is, it didn’t. “Recovery Summer” fizzled, much like the “stimulus” itself.

Approximately 1.5 million jobs have been lost since the “stimulus” was signed in 2009 — roughly 300,000 of them as administration officials hopped from town to town promoting the “summer of recovery.” The national unemployment rate was 9.1 percent in May — far above the 8 percent promised by the White House — and has averaged 9.5 percent throughout the Obama presidency. (National Review Online-John Boehner-June 17, 2011)

If this is considered recovery by the Democrats, I wonder just what would constitute non-recovery. All numbers are far more negative than they were when this administration took office. It appears to me that listening to others ideas could not possibly be worse than what we have now.

So what do the Republicans have to offer? They intend to release details of their recovery plans on Thursday June 23, 2011.

Their primary goal in this recovery release is that of jobs! As every one is aware, small businesses throughout the nation are the major employers of American workers. They are presently laboring under restraints and regulations of the federal government. Although full details of the plan are not yet published, some have been told. One aspect is to have a cap of 25% maximum for business or individual taxes. Currently, the top for businesses is 35% and the top for individuals fluctuates

Another factor is a proposed congressional review and approval of any regulations which may have an impact on the economy or that are a particular burden to the small businesses. The plan also includes other factors which will be released with the details on Thursday. One is that it calls on congress to pass free trade agreements with Columbia, Panama and South Korea which have been stalled for a long while. They contend these agreements would add 25,000 new jobs.

They also plan to reform the tax code for companies which are doing business overseas. Plus tax breaks to encourage companies to hire more employees here in the U.S. It also plans to modernize the patent system, and encourage domestic energy productions of all forms here.

Much of their plans are taken from their “Pledge to America” last year. This particular announcement of their plan is pointed primarily in creating jobs as fast as possible in order to then be able to tackle the deficit more effectively.

Joel,

This is a great article! And you said something I've been saying as well. "They can no longer wrongly blame George W. Bush for the economy collapse, even though it was never his. The collapse began under the oversight of his last two years of Democratic majority in the congress. Plus the Freddie and Fannie fiasco under the crooked oversight of Dodd and ????, both Democrats. "

Why are so few able to understand that Bush's hands were tied in so much of what happened once Nancy Pelosi and her cronies got control?

Thanks for saying it.
